You better put some condoms under the Christmas Tree
What the hell is going on?
I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone
Mom and apple pie!
Big shake down when you go to fly
We all are going to get blown up by and by
And it’s too late, too late to cry
Economic conditions bad as hell
More and more people going to jail
Trouble all over the land
Nine and a half years in Afghanistan?
Tell my you can get seven years for beating up a garbage man?
No children left behind
Chilean miners trapped in a mine
Ground Zero with it’s strip clubs and gay bars
Sarah Palin taking over dancing with the stars
Midterm elections have come and gone
Tea party members have found a new home
Blood and fire, clouds of smoke
A burning desire and a clown cracking jokes
Charlie Rangel had a big fall
Obama got hit in the mouth playing basketball
Pope says, “Condoms are ok!”
Wall Street had a bad day, all I want ti say is:
Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year!
“ASC’s Creative Writing Workshop is a great class where people suffering from HIV, AIDS, and homelessness can express their creativity. A poet is a poet whether he’s homeless on the street or has mental problems. It’s a great place to express yourself poetically. I’m proud to be part of it.”
—Luther Jarman
Luther Jarman has participated in ASC's Creative Writing Workshop since 2004. His poetry has appeared in several issues of ASC’s literary magazine, Situations, including the recently published tenth issue.
